LEED-ND: A Practical Perspective

For anyone who's still in the area, some people from the United States Green Building Council--Central Illinois Branch (USGBC-CIB) will be traveling to Normal, IL (~50 miles NW of Champaign) on Tuesday, June 16 to hear Mercy Davison speak about the benefits and pitfalls of implementing LEED-ND. The event will start at 6:30pm at the Bank of Illinois Building (200 W. College Avenue, 4th Floor Community Room), which is one of the greenest buildings in the area. The event is still free for non-members of the USGBC-CIB, but if you would like to attend, please register for the event because capacity is limited to 40 people. We will be carpooling from Champaign, so no need to worry about transportation.

EDIT: I learned at tonight's USGBC-CIB meeting that Mercy Davison can no longer present on Tuesday. Rebecca Rossi, Master's student at Illinois State University and former Town of Normal intern who handled LEED-ND submittals, will take her place. It still should be an excellent presentation and networking opportunity (plus, free food and beverages will be provided).

Also, here's my shameless plug for joining the USGBC-CIB:
A one-year student membership is only $26.00. We just have one formal meeting per month, while the rest of the events involve fun sustainable-type stuff (and sometimes free booze). We've recently become a branch of the Chicago Chapter and are beginning to expand rapidly, so there are lots of opportunities to be on the Executive Board and/or newly developing committees.
