The Sudden Sound Concert Series presents leading artists in the fields of improvised music and the jazz avant-garde, establishing Krannert Art Museum as a destination for enthusiasts of today's most progressive music from the U.S. and abroad. Curated by Jason Finkelman

Trio X, which features multi-instrumentalist Joe McPhee, Dominic Duval (bass), and Jay Rosen (drums), has been dedicated to improvised music that draws upon the jazz tradition through the avant-garde and new music practices.

Guitarist Marc Ribot, one of New York City's most eclectic musicians, has been established as part of the "downtown avant-garde" and has collaborated with such diverse artists as Brother Jack McDuff, Tom Waits, Susana Baca, and Norah Jones
