7th Annual Champaign-Urbana Unity March

7th ANNUAL UNITY MARCH

In light of any number of divisive acts that deepen the divide between the campus community and the larger Chambana community, we are hoping that MUP students will show their support by attending the 7th Annual Unity March, sponsored by the Champaign-Urbana Citizens for Peace and Justice, Planners Network - UIUC Chapter, and UIUC Graduate Employees' Organization. This is a small action that carries a BIG message! We will meet at 906 W. Vine (the house where Kiwane Carington was killed) and march over to the community garden where we will plant a tree in his honor, work the garden, and host a small reception afterward. Take a break from designing, debating and describing communities and come be a part of building OUR community. This Saturday, October 9th at Noon.

Call for Action - We Need You!:
1. A bike rider who can pull a trailer carrying a person and flag to bike along the march (or be the person being pulled).
2. People to carry signs.
3. People to show support for food security, adequate wages, health care, family responsibility, political involvement, and respect for self and others.

**A symposium on the eve of the march will be held at the Asian American House from 6:30-9 PM and will focus on the Kiwane Carington case and the role of the State in perpetuating violence against residents as well as highlighting community level interventions. Refreshments will be served.
