Transit and (over/under) Planning in Santiago

An interesting article about the planned restructuring of Santiago's bus system: one series of transportation problems that came along with its free market bus system: pollution, overcrowding, dangerous driving, were replaced by another reduced service, reduced ridership, and financial insolvency.

very interesting...especially because when I was in Chile the people I knew in Santiago very rarely rode the bus. It was too confusing...where I lived there were also private buses and the way they packed people in was extremely dangerous and often lent to lots of racing, pick pocketing, etc. etc. (This was of course on the cheap buses, which I frequented most often)...
