"Registration for the 2009 annual meeting of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) continues at a record pace. The number of registrants for the Chicago event, taking place September 18-21, currently sits one-third higher than the same number of weeks in 2008 and well ahead the 2007 meeting – then the largest gathering of landscape architecture professionals in the Society’s 110 year history at nearly 7,000 attendees."

Why should planners care?

"Landscape Architecture is a growing industry with the profession becoming more recognised in it multi-faceted role as not only landscape architects but also as planners, urbanists, managers, and engineers." Landscape Architecture and Planning are two disciplines responsible for the built environment, separated by an evanescent boundary.

A good chunk of the LA Department will be attending the planners should come as well.

How would you get there? Chicago and the McCormick place are a straight shot up I-57. More responsibly, Amtrak will get you downtown where you can connect with any number of transit options.

See y'all in a few weeks!
