Moving Cooler: An Analysis of Transportation Strategies for Reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions is the first-ever comprehensive analysis of transportation efficiency and its potential for greenhouse gas reductions and consumer savings. The report addresses the greenhouse gas emissions reductions, costs, consumer savings, and equity considerations of almost fifty strategies aimed at improving access and mobility without excessive driving, traffic, and associated costs.

The scope of this analysis is national, and the implications for policies at all levels are compelling. Smart growth advocates, energy and climate policy experts, social justice advocates, transportation planners, and key decision-makers can all find useful information about these strategies for improved transportation efficiency which, in combination, can provide for:

* convenient and sustainable means of access and mobility,
* reduced vehicle-miles of travel (VMT) per capita
* cost-effective greenhouse gas reductions in transportation reaching 24% of on-road emissions
* oil savings up to 660 million barrels per year, averaged over 40 years
* net economic savings, with consumer savings outweighing implementation costs by as much as $100 billion per year or year

The report is published by Urban Land Institute, and is now available for purchase (with an Executive Summary that can be downloaded for free) at http://www.uli.org/ as well as http://movingcooler.info/
