MONEY SMART WEEK-ILLINOIS APRIL 17-24, 2010
This is an event that I work on every year as part of my "duties as assigned" for the city of Urbana. For one week banks, non-profits, financial consultants, and government entities work together to provide free financial education workshops throughout our community. The topics range from fixing your credit, to buying a car, to estate planning, to buying a house, to socially sound investing, to free individual investment counseling. I will be putting a calendar of events in each of your mailboxes.
Additionally, I organize a Kick-Off/Media Event in which we have a speaker and give out scholarships for a kids essay contest. The kick off event is short (less than an hour), free, will have tasty food (Pekara and Strawberry fields), and will allow you to see me in action as a public official (no laughing!!!).
